As noted the process is not complete and
additional information is forthcoming from both the Division's staff and Cotter Corporation prior to any decisions
in regard to this matter. Western Mining had requested 4 specific documents but staff felt it was less complicated
to supply all the documentation as they are interrelated from around mid April to the current date.
Staff would like to give a little background on the review to clarify the process. The SM-18 MINE and the JD
Mines are being reviewed as 2 separate issues. The SM-18 MINE is a stand-alone site above the Uravan Mine
area along Highway 141. The Division and Cotter agreed to look at the JD-6, 8 and 9 Mines are a single study as
they are geographically and geologit;ally within the same area of concern along the southern rim of the Paradox
Valley area. Therefore, data and modeling will be identical for the JD Mines.
A quick check of the DMG Permit Database system shows all these documents are available for public review as
well.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand Junction
Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone no. 970-241-1117.
Sincerely, RECEIVED
oEC e z zoos
G.
