The location of the South Branch of St. Vrain C.:eek is
shown on a map, Exhibit 3. There are no records of discharges into the
"~ South Branch from St. Vrain Creek. The present South Branch channel through
i the Weng farm meanders in a generally northwest to southeast direction a
~_ distance of about 2,320 feet (Exhibit 2). The fall from the west boundary
entrance point to the south boundary exit point is about 11 feet. Tlxe
~` ~
average slope of South Branch through the Weng farm is about 0.47 percent.
The roughness coefficient ("n" in Manning equation) is estimated to be 0.025.
Measurements at critical points indicate a minimum cross-sectional area of
about 37 square feet, with bank-full flow. On this basis, the presen=
I
carrying capacity of the South Branch channel through the Weng farm i:~ esti-
mated to be about 140 second feet.
ound Water. Seven ground water observations pipes were installed at
strategic points on the John Weng farm in September 1969. The locacio~ of
each observation pipe is shown on Exhibit 2. Depths to water below ground
surface on the Weng farm varies with topography and ranged from 1.3 feet
to 4.0 feet in September 1969.
