Approximately 60 million cubic yazds ofmaterial will be placed in the <br />two fills. <br />Coal Production <br />Extraction of coal is projected to continue until the year 2017. Production in any one year over the <br />next 5 yeazs is not expected to exceed 9 million tons (CDPHE Construction Permit 95MF104Q <br />Exhibit 8, PAP). <br />Recovered coal is trucked to a primary crusher and coal stockpile located just north of the East Pit. <br />From there coal is trucked to a secondary crusher and coal stockpile located approximately four <br />miles north at the Gossazd Loadout. Stoker coal is crushed, stored and loaded separately from other <br />coal at the Loadout. Both types of coal are shipped to customers by rail. In addition, coal may be <br />hauled from the crushers or the Loadout area by truck to State Highway 13. There are no proposed <br />changes to the coal handling procedures for PR-02. <br />Disposal of Wastes <br />There is no washing of coal product at the site. Non-coal solid wastes are placed in designated zones <br />(minimum of twenty-five feet of overburden, off the bottom, of pits during backfill operations). <br />Recoverable oil, grease, and other lubricants are stored and shipped to recycle facilities. Sanitary <br />wastes aze disposed of in septic tanks, leach fields and evaporative ponds. (4.11.4, PAP) <br />Water Rights and Usage <br />Colowyo draws water from Wilson Reservoir and from Taylor Creek for mining and support <br />operations. Water consumed is within water rights and is done in accordance with the Colowyo <br />Water Augmentation Plan approved by the Colorado State Engineer's Office and the Division of <br />Water Court (PAP, 2.04.7, 4.05.15). <br />3.3.2 Reclamation Plan <br />The reclamation plan for Colowyo is found in Sections 2.05.4 and 2.05.5 (Volume 1 for the East Pit, <br />West Pit, Section 16 Pit, Facilities Area and Gossard Loadout and Volume 12 for South Taylor) of <br />the PAP. A partial summary of this plan is given here. For a more complete summary and references <br />to specific portions of the permit Application, see Section B of this document. <br />Acreage Disturbed and Reclaimed <br />Approximately 3,854 (2006 Annual Reclamation Report (ARR)) of the approximately 5,018 acres <br />permitted for disturbance (Application) have been disturbed. Of the disturbed, approximately 1,712 <br />acres have been backfilled and graded, and of this approximately 1,484 acres have been topsoiled <br />and seeded (2006 ARR).
