Proposed species are those which have been formally proposed to be <br />• listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Ac c. <br />Proposed species are afforded the same protection as listed species. <br />Other species determined to be sensitive by the US FS and are known or <br />suspected to be in the project area: <br />Spotted Bat (Euderma maculatum) <br />Tovnsend's Big-eared Bat (Plecotus townsendii) <br />Tiger Salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum) <br />Lewis' woodpecker (Kelanerpes lewis) <br />Tiger Beardtongue (Penstemon mensarum) Candidate 2 status <br />The following list are chose species determined to be sensitive by the <br />US FS and are known or suspected to be in the project area or which the <br />proposed action potentially could affect either the species or its habitat: <br />Spotted bat <br />Tovnsend's Big-eared bat <br />Tiger salamander <br />Lewis' woodpecker <br />Northern Leopard frog <br />Flannelmouth sucker <br />Roundtail chub <br />Northern goshawk <br />Loggerhead shrike <br />Flammulated owl' <br />Euderma maculatum <br />Plecotus townsendii <br />Ambvstoma tigrinum <br />Melanerpes lewis <br />Rana rioiens <br />Carostomus lacioinnis <br />Gila robus[a <br />Accioiter gentilis <br />Lanius ludovicianus <br />0-us flammeolus <br />• The Forest Service objective in sensitive species management (FSM <br />2670.22) states that we will "develop and implement management practices to <br />ensure chat species~do not become threatened or endangered because of <br />Forest Service actions." ~ re•:'_='= of the affects on sensitive species is <br />documented in the Biological E•~al~:tion, Mountain Coal Company Box Canyon <br />Tract Coal Lease Application CCG-5647. As a result of this evaluation and <br />mitigation recommendations, it is our determination that the proposed <br />action to. lease the Box Canyon Tract will have "no impact" on the northern <br />leopard frog, tiger salamander, Townsend's big-eared bat, and spotted bat <br />and "may impact individuals but is not likely to cause a trend toward <br />Federal listing or loss of viability" on the northern goshawk, flammulated <br />owl, lewis' woodpecker, loggerhead shrike, flannelmouth sucker and <br />roundtail chub. <br /> <br />
