Cutthroat trout Fathead minno•+ FLannelWouth sucker <br />• Fish are not present in the secondary drainages on the review area due <br />Co the absence of perennial waters. <br />Threatened, Endangered and Sensitive Species <br />There are no federally listed endangered or threatened species nor <br />their designated critical habitat on the review area. <br />The following annotated list of Federal and State listed, candidate <br />and proposed species have the potential co occur on the review area, or <br />off-site and could potentially be affected by a coal lease and subsequent <br />development on the area. <br />Colorado River Fishes: <br />Bonytail chub (.;ila eleeans) Federal ~ State Endangered <br />CO River squawiish (Ptychocheilus lucius) Federal & State Endangered <br />Humpback chub (Gila cvoha) Federal & State Endangered <br />Razorback sucker (Xvrauchen texanus) Federal & State Endangered <br />Critical habitat for these endangered Colorado River fishes does exist <br />downstream along Che Gunnison and Colorado Rivers. The Fish and }]ildlife <br />• Service (Service), effective April 20, 1994 designated 1980•miles of stream <br />in the Colorado River drainage as critical habitat for these endangered <br />species. The Gunnison River, downstream from the Uncompahg_a River <br />• confluence is critical habitat for the Colorado squawfish and Razorback <br />sucker. <br />Bald eagle (Y.aliaeetus leucocenhalus), Federal 6 State Endangered <br />species; are }:nc~wn to winter in the region of the review aria. BL`t <br />inventories conducted in 1978 through 1980, and monitoring flights <br />conducted through 1985, did not locate any roost or nest sites, or <br />areas of wince: concentration on or near the review area. Use levels <br />of the North Fork of the Gunnison River in this region were low <br />density, and only sporadic winter us e. occurred on the uplands. The <br />possibility exists for nesting co occur along the `forth Fork of the <br />Gunnison River. <br />Peregrine falcon (=alto oereerinus), Federal 6 State Endangered <br />species; use has not been recorded on the review area. Some <br />incidental use is likely, especially during migration. The North Fork <br />region, including the re•+iew area, has some potential as habitat. <br />Peregrines are known to successfull;+ nest 20 miles to the southwest in <br />the Black Canyon :Iational Monument. Suitable nesting habitat is not <br />available on or near the review area. <br />• <br />i, <br />
