I. INTRODUCTION <br />Purpose of this Document <br />This document presents the proposed decision ofthe Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and <br />Safety (Division) for the Termination of Jurisdiction (TOJ) of the privately owned lands at the Coal <br />Basin Mine, revoked Permit # C-1981-017. The azeas of the permit under consideration for <br />termination of jurisdiction and final liability release aze the privately owned lands that were disturbed <br />by mining activities and subsequently reclaimed. <br />Background Information <br />The Division will follow the requirements for review, public notice, and public participation as <br />required for a bond release application. Detailed information about the bond release review process <br />can be found in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act and the Regulations of the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Boazd for Coal Mining. Detailed information about mining and <br />reclamation operations at Coal Basin Mine can be found in the mining and reclamation permit <br />application, C-1981-031 and associated records on file at the Division offices, located at 1313 <br />Sherman Street, Room 215, in Denver, Colorado. <br />Lands included in the Termination of Jurisdiction <br />The proposed Termination of Jurisdiction covers all privately held land within the former Coal Basin <br />Mine permit boundary. The legal description of these lands is: <br />Township 10 South, Range 89 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian <br />SEC 10: E2SE4SE4, NW4SE4SE4, NE4SE4, W2SW4SE4NE4, E2SW4SW4NE4, <br />E2NW4SE4, E2W2NW4SE4, S2S2S2SW4, S2S2SW4SE4, SW4SE4SE4, SE4SW4NE4 <br />SEC 11: SW4NW4SW4, S2SW4 <br />SEC 14: NW4NE4NW4, N2NW4NW4 <br />SEC 15: NE4NE4NE4, NW4NE4NE4, N2NW4NE4, N2SW4NE4NE4, NE4NW4, N2NW4NW4, <br />NE4NE4, N2S2NW4NE4, N2S2NW4NW4 <br />Dollar Amount of Bond to be Released <br />The Coal Basin Mine is a pennit-revoked, and bond forfeited site. No bond money exists for release <br />nor is the former permittee due any monetary consideration of any kind as a result of this TOJ <br />process. <br />
