A 24" drop inlet riser pipe containing
a 4" diameter orifice will be attached to the existing 24" CMP
spillway. A design report for Pond 006 has been produced to ensure
that the new spillway configuration complies with the Division's
regulations and Peabody's approved permit.
The existing Pond 006 - Phase I is still in compliance and functioning
as designed. The slide did slightly decrease the capacity, but only by
0.8 Ac-ft (11.4 Ac-ft compared to 10.6 Ac-ft) at the principal spillway
(elevation 7065). The current disturbance from mining activities,
approximately 240 acres within the 006 watershed, is less than the
maximum disturbance of 277 acres in the Phase I design.
