Long <br />, Division D,rerlnr <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Seneca II Mine (Permit No. C-1980-005) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 33 (TR-33) <br />Addresses Two Changes to the Hydrologic Monitoring Program <br />Dear Mr. Roberts: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on January 10, 2000, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Seneca II Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted <br />by Seneca Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate <br />from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision addresses two changes to the hydrologic monitoring program. The first change involves <br />reducing the monitoring frequency at Spoil Spring !a!l. The second change involves reducing the monitoring <br />frequency at Surface Water Site SW-S2-5. <br />The Surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles southeast of Hayden. The permit area <br />is further described as follows: <br />TSN, R87W; All of Sections 1, 2 and 12; Portions of Sections 3, 11 and 13 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 27, 34, 35 and 36 <br />TSN, R86W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Milner and Mt. Harris. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Routt County Courthouse, Box <br />77398, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide <br />written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (15) days of [his letter.
