Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has reviewed Cotter Corporation's request for
a Surety Reduction for the above referenced permitted site. The review included staff's
inspection on 8/1 1 /03 and a recalculation of the bond reflecting reclamation work
accomplished. DMG calculations reflect a bond of 51500.00 will cover any secondary
seeding required.
Under TR-02 and Rule 4.2.1(81, the Division holds a minimum bond of 5100.00 for this
site. Therefore, permit records will show an overall reduction of the reclamation liability,
but the Division cannot reduce the bond below its current amount. SR-01 is approved to
reflect a reduction in reclamation liability.
Correspondence from the Department of Energy (DOE) indicates that they will require
Cotter to maintain a 55000.00 bond for this site. Any reduction in that amount is strictly
between DOE and Cotter so long as it is not reduced below the estimated 51500.00
required by this agency.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and
Geology, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado
81501, telephone no. 970.241.1 1 17.
Sincere y,
~. ~, G~~f""-
G.
