Box 6
Barbourville, Kentucky 40906
RE: Trinidad Basin Mine, Permit No. C-81-048, Technical Revision No. 9,
Pond Water Sampling Results
Dear Mr. Mills:
Enclosed are the water sampling results for the April 22, 1992 sampling of
ponds 22-Pil, 15-P20, 15-PB and 15-P2. At the time of sampling, pond 15-P1
was dry. None of the ponds was discharging, so these samples were taken from
inside the ponds.
The water contained in ponds 15-P2 and 22-P17 was of the calcium bicarbonate
type. Ponds 15-P20 and 15-P8 contain water of the magnesium bicarbonate
type. All four samples were slightly alkaline, with pH values between 7.8 and
7.95. Salinity, as measured by conductivity, was low for all samples. Water
hardness and SAR were also low. There were no potential exceedances of
recommended water quality Standards for Stock watering.
If you have any questions, please call me.
Sincerely,
y1 ',
,~ ! 1
Joseph J.
