NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Approve Technical Revision Application <br />No. 60 (TR-60) for'the Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-1981-019), submitted by Colowyo Coal <br />Company L.P.. Colowyo Coal Company (CCC) has submitted a technical revision as the final part of the <br />abatement for Notice of Violation CV-2004-001. This revision adds aproximately 60 acres to Federal <br />Coal Lease D-034365. Portion of the lease azea will be mined with the highwall miner, resulting in an <br />increase of 4.0 disturbed acres and 47.0 affected acres. These activities will partially undermine the 138 <br />kV Tri-State power lines. <br />The Colowyo Coal Mine is a surface coal mine located in Moffat County, approximately 28 miles south <br />of Craig, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal, and the surface affected is Federal, state and private land. <br />The permit area encompasses approximately 7,531.05 acres. <br />This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., C.R.S., <br />and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, aze on file for public inspection at the Colorado <br />Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may <br />request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision. Such <br />request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and <br />must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed <br />decision. <br />
