j r On July 13, 1992 esti;,.ates wares made in the field of annroximate
cover present in the wate_shed leading in*_o the Long Pond. A gocd
deal of the ground appeared to be poorly vegetated. we estimated
cover of the steep slope below the road to ~e from 20 to 60 percent
and the flatter areas neared the pond at 60 to 80 percent.
Photographs were also taken of the vegetation.
In running the model back in the office, the Long Pond watershed
was divided into two subwatersheds; an upper subwatershed taking in
the steeper slopes below the road and a lower subwatershed with the
flatter slopes near the pond. A soil hydrologic grouping of "C",
the above observations and the following curve number relationships
from Sedcad were used to arrive at the curve numbers used in the
model.
Other Agricultural Lands
Vegetation Tvpe: Condition: Soil Tvne: CN:
Upper subwatershed:
Pasture-grassland-range poor C 86
Brush-weed-grass Mix poor C 77
Woods-grass Mix poor C 82
Final Curve Number Used: 80
Lower subwatershed:
Pasture-grassland-range fair C 79
Pasture-grassland-range good C 74
Final Curve Number Used: 76
