April 25, 2005 <br />Mr. Carl Luppens <br />Page 6 <br />• April 20, 2005 was a higher than average activity day. <br />• Mining activity for April is a higher than average the average month. <br />• The mine is operating at a higher level than 20,000 tons per year. <br />Recommendations <br />In summary, we recommend that Routt County require the King Mountain Gravel Mine to make <br />the following improvements to address safety and maintenance cost concerns: <br />• Widen CR 5 to 30 feet and pave the roadway. <br />• Replace both CR 5 bridges over Egeria Creek with 30-foot wide structures. <br />• Change the alignment of CR 3 as it approaches CR 5 to reduce the steep grade. <br />• Improve sight distance at the intersection of CR 3 and CR 5. <br />• Improve the radii on the CR 5 curves near each end of the upper Egeria Creek bridge. <br />• Request that CDOT require appropriate auxiliary lanes at the SH 131 intersection with <br />CR 5. <br />Sincerety, <br />FELSBURG HOL7 8: ULLEV/IG <br />David E.
