Recommendations In summary, we recommend that Routt County require the King Mountain Gravel Mine to make the following improvements to address safety and maintenance cost concerns: • Widen CR 5 to 30 feet and pave the roadway. • Replace both CR 5 bridges over Egeria Creek with 30-foot wide structures. • Change the alignment of CR 3 as it approaches CR 5 to reduce the steep grade. • Improve sight distance at the intersection of CR 3 and CR 5. • Improve the radii on the CR 5 curves near each end of the upper Egeria Creek bridge. • Request that CDOT require appropriate auxiliary lanes at the SH 131 intersection with CR 5.
