POTENTIAL OFFSTTE MITIGATION STRATEGIES:
Hce are offsite recommendations to mitigate the impacts of the proposed King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine
on Greata5age-Grouse.
• Develop partnership(s) with other property owners in South Routt to fund and/or implement habitat
enhancemeothnanipulation projects.
• Develop partnerships with adjacent property owners in the Five Pines Mesa and Egeria Par1c ores to
continue to irrigate adjacent hay meadows including late summa irrigation
• Develop an integrated weed management plan with adjacent property vanes to address the spread of
noxious wads on a landscape level to protect native plants necessary fm sage-grouse survival.
•' Provide funds fm offsiu consmation easements to proud OreataSage-Grouse habitats in the area
~"' Conservation easements fm properly in the Toponas area that contain quality sagebrush habitat range
591X1.00 to 51400.00 per acre.
• Provide funding to develop and implement habitat enhanceatent projects, support implementation of the
Northern Eagle/Southem Routt Greater Sage-Grouse Conservation Plan, and support ongoirtg Greats
Sage-Grouse studies.
• :1~•
RECLAMATION:
The list we received fm inchrsian in the permanent seed mixture fm final reclamation includes the following
Plant species:
NAME PERCENT /o OF MIX
.Idaho fescue IS
w~a~ w~ _ u
Beardless wheat 10
Columbia needle 10
Mountain brume 10
Mountain muh ] 0
Sandb blu 10
Slender when 10
Mountain bi se 5
Common sno S
While none of the species identified fm inclusion in the permanent seed murture fm final reclamation are a
cause fm significant concern, we would lr7ce to sa a pcmranent seed mixture that includes a significant
percentage and diversity of fort species as well as grass species. Any efforts to increase fort abundance and
diversity will benefit Greater Sage-Grouse and enhance the rec]aiaud areas potential to be utilized by sage•
grouse for nesting and brood-rearing. We also recommend an increase is the composition of sage brtr9h and a
decrease in the perorntagc of mountain mutely in the seed mix. A list of pretemd species can be obtained from
the CROW.
CHEMICAL STORAGE:
'the applicant has stated that they do not intend to story m use arty designated chemicals or acid-producing
materials on site. Jf at any time the King Mountain Sand & Grave] Mine requires the use and subsequent
storage of chemicals far any portion of their operation, including but not limited to the processing plant,
asphalt plant, and concrete plant we recommend that all such chemicals not only be stored in compliance with
state and federal regulations but also a sufficient distance from Smith and Egeria Creeks to ensure that water
contamination does not oecta.
