It was originally to be addressed
by October 1, 1997, but the operator was granted an extension until December 1. It has
recently come to my attention that the disturbed area contains an AVF, and that this directly
impacts what I had planned for the resolution of Stipulation 27. Dan Mathews and I have
discussed this issue last week. As a result, I need to get a revised recommendation from Mr.
Dennis Davidson of the Glenwood Springs NRCS office to identify a reasonable production
standard for the irrigated cropland disturbed community. Additionally, I have recommended
to the operator that they request a release of the woody stem density standazd that presently
applies to the dryland pasture community. I have sent a letter to Mr. Bill Clark of DOW
(Grand Junction) for his concurrence. As soon as their responses are in hand, a complete
technical revision application can be made. Please extend our current deadline until January
1, 1998. Depending on when the NRCS and DOW responses come in, I may have to
request another extension. However, I am hoping that will not be necessary.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Matthew S. Hayes
President
CC: ]im Stover.
