The oversteepened slopes on the southern edge of the
disturbed area contain significant gully erosion. These
include the outslope downgradient of the equipment stor-
• age yard and the outslope downgradient of the office and
shop. Please address how these slopes will be repaired
and reclaimed.
Reply Item 7
The word "significant" erosion is in our opinion an ex-
aggeration of the temporary slope condition. We felt
that an expert opinion should address this. We deliv-
ered a copy of your letter to the Delta County Soil Con-
servation Service for their recommendation, Paul Obert
had inspected the site late in December of 1993 and did
not feel it was a significant issue, although he made an
additional inspection March 24. Following is his reply.
Please refer to the Conversion Application, Mining
Plan-Exhibit D, item a and ((e)); "The overburden moved
in the first 15 years will be used to reclaim." Benson
Brothers do not have a specific timetable but more
overburden will be moved to the slope in question, and
certainly provide control best suited to restrict ero-
sion. Benson Brothers Aggregate certainly appreciate
Paul Obert's time and advice and will follow his recom-
mendations as Plan A, Plan B or Plan C etc.
Sincerlel/y,
~~
Katie Benson 2138)-SO Road
Aur~in.
