Additionally, persuant to the U.S. Forest Service November 9, 1988 letter to <br />the (dined :and Reclamation Division, please conduct a survey and post the <br />National ~^rest/Private land boundary to ensure compliance with C.R.S. <br />34-32-116 (7) (i), i. e., "Areas outside of the affected land shall be <br />protected from slides or damage occurring during the mining operation and <br />reclamation." <br />20. John Doerfer's review indicated that the reclamation costs of the drop <br />structure seen low; please provide the width of the drop structure, volume of <br />concrete required for construction, cost per unit volume of concrete, and cost <br />for excavation of the key cut. <br />Please provide a third party contractor cost estimate of renting and operating <br />a D-9 bulldozer. The Division otherwise will utilize its cost estimate as <br />presented in the MLRD's December 13, 1988 adequacy letter. <br />Please include the cost of replacing the plant-growth medium, revegetating, <br />fertilizing and mulching the 23 ft, wide benches proposed for the north and <br />east pit walls. <br />Pi ease provide a cost estimate for expected monitoring needs and settling <br />basin reclamation. <br />Information Not Specifically Reouested in the Division's Letter <br />Joe Nugent, the Director of the Division of Mines reviewed the Blasting <br />Analysis conducted by Schnabel Engineering, and agreed with the reports <br />findings. Additionally, Mr, Nugent indicated that the blasting will most <br />likely not have any impact on potential rock slides onto U.S. Highway 24. <br />However, from the operators potential tutu re liability, Mr. Nugent suggested <br />that the operator consider Conducting seismic monitoring in the Dortion of the <br />Gave of the Wings closest to the mining operation during initial blasting, to <br />Bete-mine if any impact could be detected. <br />Please contact me if .you have any questions. <br />Sincerely, <br />Cz~~ ~ ~~~ <br />Camille M.
