previous seam by a[ least two (21 inches. Reseaming over an existing seam without
regrinding shall not be permitted.
F. Each repair shall be non-destructively tested, except when MANAGER and CERTIFYING
ENGINEER require a destructive seam sample obtained from a repaired seam. Repairs
that pass the destructive test shall be taken as an indication of an adequate repair.
Failed tests indicate that the repair shall be repeated and retested until passing tes[
results are achieved.
Recording the Results: Daily documentation of all non-destructive and destructive
testing shall be provided to MANAGER by CQA Monitor. This documentation shall
identify alt seams that initially failed the test and include evidence that these seams
were repaired and successfully retested.
3.11 CONFORMANCE TESTING:
A. During manufacturing of the geomembrane, CCW Monitor will be present to observe
manufacturing of geomembrane and will ensure that samples are obtained and
forwarded to the Quality Assurance Testing Laboratory for testing to ensure
conformance with the SPECIFICATIONS.
B. Samples will be taken across the enrire width of [he roll and shall not include the first
three (31 feet. Unless otherwise stated, samples will be three 431 teet long by the width
of the roll. COA Monitor will mark the machine direction on the samples with an arrow.
Unless otherwise stated, samples shall be taken at a frequency of no less than one per
one hundred fifty thousand (150,000) square feet. As a minimum, the following tests
will be performed to verify conformance to the design SPECIFICATIONS with minimum
values specified in Section 2776, Article 2.01.:
PROPERTY TEST METHOD
Thickness (mils) GRI-GM8
Compound Density Iglccl ASTM D1505
Tensile Strength (Both
yield and ultimate
strength and elongation,
as speeifted) ASTM D638
Carbon Black Content (%) ASTM D1603
3.12 PLACEMENT OF SOIL OR GRANULAR MATERIALS
All soil materials located on top of a geomembrane shall be placed in such a manner as to ensure:
A. The geomembrane and any underlying geatextila is not damaged.
l3. Minimal slippage of the geomembrane on underlying layers occurs.
C. Minimal movement and wrinkling or folding of the underlying geosynthetics layer(sl occurs.
D. No excess tensile stresses shall occur in the geomembrane, such as by earth moving equipment
March 2B, 1998 Section 02776.0
02776.0-23 Geomembrane
Revision 4
