always is synonymous with mining. Work for a few, for a little while, while ih property
owners suffer from lower property values and health risks, or, we can choose to follow the
steady economy of being the bedroom community of Breckenridge and those endle s tourists
dollars comming into the area. This, of course, is not going to lead to a boom but it will not lead
to a bust, either, this has been the main economy of Alma for a while. If you don' believe me,
think of the ratio of people who you know that have bought a house here and work in Summit
County to those who work here at the mines.
One other point I would like to mention is, the $20,000 bond for reclamation of tf~e mine. And I
have to ask, have you priced a new car lately? $20,000 in business is nothing) ro example,
$20,000 at a ski area today will not even get you 4 chairs on a ski lift.
For the above listed reasons, we feel that permitting a mining operation in such lose proximity
to a residential area is both unwise and unhealthy. And that to grant such permis ion, without a
public hearing, is unfair to the local residents.
Thank You,
(~u ~~--- ~~crc~T '~lcu,
CJ ~J'- G,
