Written comments or objections to the release may be submitted to the DMG,
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO. 80203, by October 27, 2001. The
DMG has essentially issued the release for the requested acreage, and is
required to wait 15 days after the release decision to allow for comments or
objections. The letter of notification was dated October 12, 2001, and I
received a copy on Friday.
I spoke with Carl Mount at DMG (303-866-3567) to ask for more information.
He indicated that this is only for a partial release and does not include
the entire mining site. The release only covers specific areas requested by
CU, but these areas are not idenitifed in the notice to us. No reason was
apparently provided as to why only a partial release was requested (and
perhaps Jeff Lipton may be able to share more about this). I do not have a
map of the requested area to be released, so more detail would need to be
obtained from the DMG's office to see this information.
It is unlikely that the city will be able to fully review the request given
the very short time frame there is to comment. However, the IRP, CAG or
sponsors may have comments that could be submitted to DMG for consideration.
Does anyone have comments to pass along?Alan
2
