All
reviews and comment periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated
thereunder initiate from this day of filing.
The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the
Meeker Area Mines. The technical revision would allow certain roads and other
items to remain for recreational use at the Northern No. 1 Mine site and
refuse area. Specifically, the Northern No. 1 Mine site facilities proposed
to be left in place for recreational use include the access road, shop
building and associated driveway, storage pad area, trailer pad and associated
parking area, and the Northern No. 1 sediment pond. The refuse facility items
proposed to be left in place include the access road and sediment pond. These
items will be used to support the existing hunting and fishing business
currently operated by the property owner.
The property affected by this revision is described as follows:
Northern No. 1 Mine: SE 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 21,
Township 2 North, Range 93 West,
6th P.M.
Refuse Facility: N 1/2 SE 1/4 Section 20,
Township 2 North, Range 93 West,
6th P.M.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle
maps of Rattlesnake Mesa and Ninemile Gap.
Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter
previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are
requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened
or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise
STATE OF COLORADO
