Dept of Natural Resources
Re: Robinson Brick Company, Chieftain North
Conversion MLR File N0. 78-14
As the staff knows the local government approval was not limited
to one local agency but involved The City of Lakewood and Jefferson
County. On February 13, 1985 Robinson received a letter of approval
from Jefferson County and is waiting on the City of Lakewood for
approval. We hope to have it prior to the February board hearing.
On behalf of our client Robinson Brick Company we will respond
to your second adequacy letter questions in the same format as they
were asked.
E
1. The high tension power lines are greater than 200 feet from
the pit area. The only mining related activities within 200
feet of this power line will consist of the storage and
transfer of soils. Therefore, our mining operations will not
adversely affect the stability of the power line, making an
agreement with the owners unnecessary.
2. The clay and sand veins dip 70° to the east. The mining
plan presently will follow those veins down to a safe and
economical depth; our best estimate now is a depth of between
25 and 50 feet.
3. Your proposal of 3h: lv slopes on the topsoil stockpiles is
acceptable.
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
1. The depth of these waste materials will depend on the amount
of clay and waste sandstone encountered during the extraction
process. We presently anticipate that 208 to 408 of the
materials removed will be waste materials.
