Banta. <br />Division Drretlor <br />DATE: January 31, 1991 <br />T0: Seneca II-W Review Team <br />(Berhan Keffelew, Bill Crick, Larry Rout ten <br />Tim King and Jim Teton) <br />FROM: Dan Mathews <br />RE: Seneca II-W Permit Revision No. 1 Review Assignments and Meeting <br />File No. C-82-057 (PR-O1) <br />As you may or may not know, you have been volunteered to participate in the <br />review of Peabody Coal Company's Seneca II-W Mine Permit Revision No. 1. Due <br />to circumstances beyond our control, we are already approximately two months <br />behind schedule. <br />The revision would increase the current permitted acreage by over 1,100 acres, <br />allow for mining in the northern portion of the permit area for which detailed <br />plans have not previously been provided, and add approximately 35 acres of <br />federal coal to be mined adjacent to previously proposed operations. The plan <br />proposes two additional temporary overburden stockpiles, two additional <br />sediment ponds, additional haul roads in the northern portion of~the permit <br />area, a dragline route between the two mining blocks and numerous topsoil <br />stockpiles. <br />Peabody representatives will meet with us at 9:00 a.m, on February 7, 1991 to <br />present an overview of the revision proposal an respon o any ques ions we <br />might have at this point. <br />Tentative review assignments are as follows: <br />Berhan: Surface water, sediment control and road drainage. Application <br />Tabs 7, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18 as related to surface water impacts, <br />control systems and monitoring. <br />Larry: Geology and Overburden Assessment and Handling, Tabs 6 and 21, <br />Bill: Ground Water and Water Rights, Tabs 7, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18. <br />Jim: Road Designs, Blasting, and Backfilling and Grading, Tabs 13, 14 <br />and 20. <br />Tim: Bonding, Tab 2S. <br />Dan: Everything else. <br />
