hayfield Pit # 1
Adequacy Letter Response
Page 6

^ Slopes around the reclaimed reservoirs will be 3:1. Currently the slopes of disturbed
property have a 3:1 slope.
Exhibit D cont.: The existing operation is phased, with reclamation following the termination of
mining in a par[iculaz phase. It is not clear if you are proposing to re-enter reclaimed areas, or
enlazge or modify presently-defined phase areas.
The amendment to the mining plan will re-enter previously mined areas. The mining will
now occur as outlined on the mining map with mining occurring in Phase I continuing to
Phase II and then Phase III. During Phase I, water will be pumped into the existing pond
azea of Phase III. When mining occurs in Phase II, the water will once again be pumped into
Phase III. During Phase III water will be pumped into Phase I and Phase II where each of
these areas will be reclaimed for reservoir storage. During Phase III mining will also occur
between Phase II and Phase III were there is an existing dike that will be mined. Once
mining of this area is complete, the dike will be re-constructed to separate the two reservoir
areas.
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan: Clarify where the "developed water resources" will be located,
since the reclamation map does not indicate a pond within the amendment azea. If the pit
resulting from excavation in the 10.3-acre azea is to be a pond, please state the projected size of
the water surface. If no pond is to be there, please state the number of acres to be reclaimed in
this area.
^ The reclaimed areas will result in reservoir storage areas.
Exhibit E cont.: The existing plan includes planting woody species and/or berming, to satisfy the
county's requirements. Please indicate if any of the new areas will be included in [his, and to
what extent.
The property owner is responsible for planting of woody species and/or berming. The
property owner will plant according to the County's Special Use Permit, which is enforced at
the local government level.
Exhibit F -Reclamation Plan Map: The topographic contours in the new pit are not labeled for
elevation. Are they conceptual only, or also on the five-foot interval indicated elsewhere on the
map?
The contours, as they appear on the reclamation map, are conceptual only. The slope areas
will be reclaimed at a 3:1 slope. ,
Exhibit F cont.: Identify which of the pits shown are to be ponds or dryland to be revegetated.
^ All of the pits are to be reclaimed as reservoirs for water storage.
