The additional area encompassed by the Sanborn Creek addition to the Somerset Mine permit area is located in portions of the following described lands: Township 13 South, Range 90 West, 6th PM Sec. 3: SW/4, SE/4 Sec. 4: SE/4 Sec. 9: North of High way 133 Sec. 10; North of Railroad The Sanborn Creek Mine permit area contains 962 acres of land of which 793 acres are on private land owned by the Operator and 169 acres are on Federal 1 and. The combined permit area of the Somerset Coal Mine and the new Sanborn Creek mine contains 3,737 acres of land of which 1,608 acres are on private land owned by the Operator and 2,129 acres are on Federal land. The mine permit areas are located on the U. S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie and the U. S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Somerset Quadrangle. The Somerset Coal Mine is located due north of the town of Somerset, Colorado, which is nine miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado on Highway 133. The North Fork of the Gunnison River is located due south of the town of Somerset. The Sanborn Creek addition to the Somerset Mine is to be located approximately one mile east of the town of Somerset at a location that is north of Highway 133 and north of the railroad tracks.
