Sherman
Executive DireROr
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has reviewed your conversion application of the Lofdahl pit from 8.5 acres 110 construction
materials permit to a 112 covering a total of 28.2 acres. The operator had also re-surveyed the existing permit
area and had the error corrected for the conversion application.
To date, the Division has not received a copy of the actual News Paper Notice. Please provide a copy for our
records.
I) All exhibits were found to be adequate. Even though the mine is being converted into a 112,
according to the application, the amount of affected acres at any give time will not exceed the
current affected area.
II) The Mining plan will consist of only font end loaders and trucks. No screening or crushing will
take place on site.
III) The maximum acres that will be affected at any give time will not exceed 9 acres. Once mining is
completed, reclamation will commence contemporaneously.
IV) All available top soil will be salvaged and properly seeded unless used for reclamation with in
180 days. The two to four feet of overburden that underlies the top soil will either be used as
binder for the sand or stockpiled for later use in reclamation. Depth of the sand to be mined
ranges in thickness from seven feet to fifteen feet. All reclaimed slopes will be at 3:1 or gentler.
V) The seed mix will be as approved by the local N.C.R.S. Noxious weed control will be as noted
during the Pre- operational inspection.
VI) The mining plan will not expose any ground water. All the stone water will be contained within
the pit. After contacting the Colorado Department oh Health, about the need to obtain a storm
water discharge pelmit, you were told that as long as the storm water discharge is contained with
in the pit, there will be no need for such a permit.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
