STATE OF COLOR ~,v
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Director
May 30, 1989
Mr. William Agnew
Trapper Mining, Inc.
P.O. Box 187
Craig, Colorado 81626
RE: Technical Revision to 1988 Annual Report Appendix W at the Trapper Mine
File No. C-81-010 TR-44
Dear h1r, Agnew:
The Division has recently completed an adequacy review for TR-44 and intends
to approve the revision as submitted with one exception. Trapper proposed to
remove the quarterly analysis of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS1 from ground
water monitoring requirements. The Division agrees that wells in the HI, KLM,
QR and Twentymile Sandstone aquifers have shown consistency with regards to
TDS levels and the quarterly requirement for TDS analysis could be dropped.
Therefore, upon approval of this revision the following wells will no longer
re~,uire quarter]y TDS analysis b~t will stiles require annual TDS ana~sis:
GA-) , GA-2, GB- -1 , GD~, GE-1 , GE-2 GF-1 , GFw2, GF`~3, GF-4, GF~6,
GP=I, GP!~, - GP -4 GP- GP-6, GP~1 and G~B. However, the White
Sandstones, Baccfi nd luvial aquifers have shown more variable levels of
dissolved solids with some significant increases in 1988. Therefore,
quarterly analysis of TDS should continue for wells monitoring these aquifiers.
As soon as the Division receives a letter of concurrence from Trapper a
decision will be issued. If you have any questions or wish to discuss
this revision further, please call.
Sincerely,
C-~~ ~ ~--
Anthony J.
