Ms Dan Mathews
Drvirion afMinerats and Geo(agy
fannary 27, 7004
Page 7
3. .4 couple of hilklope gullies that had been designated within the 1997 reclamation parcel on the 2003 rill and
gully plan map are not depicted on the 2004 plan map, although there gullies were not repaired. Afro, revera!
gullier described in the Divirivn s November or August inspec[ion reports were not delineated on the 2004 plan
map, including a ride slope gully up to 18"deep that parallels the 005 Gulch Channel far several hundred feet,
revera! hundred yards above the Duck Pond, several additional hillslope gullies in the 1997reclamation parcel,
and an area of headcutting erosion located along the southern perimeter of the `A"Pit disturbance area, below the
dragline tub facility site. Please address these concerns and amend the map as appropriate.
Rather than attempting to delineate all individual hillslope gullies m the parcel where
contour ditches will be reclaimed, a genera/ commitment to sec/aim all hillslope gullies Y
or deeper within the specified reclamation parcels would be acceptable.
Response: SCC has revised Drawing 22-4.1, Rill and Gully Plan - 2004, to address your concerns
and the requirements of Rule 4.14.6, Regrading or Stabilizing Rills and Gullies. The revised drawing
indicates general areas in which potential rills and gullies exist. The need for repair will be
evaluated/determined in the field. Evaluation will include whether the rills and gullies will prohibit
successful revegetation or disrupt the achievement of the postmining land use.
The locations of excessive erosion (noted in Division inrpedion reports) along the proposed postmine
drainage channels that have not been constructed or finished to date are shown on the revised map.
The repairs/remediation will be accomplished during the construction and/or reconstruction of the
approved postmine Channels. These channels are part of the TR-45 submittal
Please replace the existing Exhibi[ 22-4.1, Rill and Gully Plan - 2004, with the attached updated
version. If there are any questions regarding these responses, please contact me @ (970) 275-5227.
Sincerel
~~
Roy A.
