The building is necessary to properly store hydraulic
components and pieces of machinery prior to return to vendors. The building is designed to
collect any used oil from the components or machinery that are typically awaiting repair. It is
anticipated that this project will further Mountain Coal Company's recycling efforts and
substantially reduce the potential for oil spills and loss of soil resources. The building will be
located west of the existing fuel tanks building and northwest of the warehouse. Enclosed is an
updated Map 53 showing the location of the proposed hydraulic component storage building.
In order to complete the project, an existing (closed) above-ground storage tank, formerly
utilized for used oil, will be removed and properly decommissioned. Eight concrete footings, 2' x
2' x 1' will be constructed for the roof columns and an 18' x 25' x 8-inch thick concrete slab
poured. The slab will be sloped to a floor drain and have a 6-inch curb installed on the perimeter
of the slab to contain any of the leakage from the components. A concrete barrel containment
structure will be constructed to house a drum that will collect the oil from the floor drain. A steel
structure 18' x 25' x 14' high, will then be erected on the concrete foundation. Reclamation costs
have been estimated to be approximately $ 9,400. The estimate is attached for the Division's
review.
