Long <br /> Division Director <br />Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1996-083) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 13 (TR-13) <br />Incidental Boundary Change <br />Dear Mr. Geier: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues no[ice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section I I6, Paragraph 4, <br />of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on Febnlary 1, 2000, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All review <br />and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Approval of this technical revision would permit an incidental boundary change in order to conduct development mining in <br />federal coal. This technical revision can not be approved until Bowie Resources has secured the amendment to the federal lease <br />for the right of entry [o that federal coal. The incidental boundary change would add 109.6 acres of private surface and 28.9 <br />acres of federal surface to the northwest portion of the permit area. A portion of the coal to be mined is federal and a portion is <br />private. There would not be any increase in the disturbance azea, no additional facilities would be built and there would not be <br />any increase in production through this revision. <br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 1 I, 14, I5, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West ofthe 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer, <br />Delta, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division <br />of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. In order for 1u to <br />comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter.
