Widely-spaced monuments aze one of three subsidence monitoring programs (PAP page 145).
The purpose was to provide general information of horizontal and vertical displacement (PAP
page 146). Effects of total recover were predicted to be relatively quick and of short duration.
Station 16 is cited (PAP, page 149), and was surveyed after total extraction (subsidence had
ceased). Subsidence over the 8E-2S panel in 1983 was of 1 to 1.5 feet (PAP page 150). However,
up to 6 feet is predicted (PAP, page 153) for some areas. A general lowering is anticipated, but
no large changes are anticipated (PAP page 154). No material damage or diminution of the
reasonable foreseeable use was predicted (PAP page 155).
A review of subsidence history of the points nominated for suspension of monitoring follows.
Survey information appears erratic at the beginning of each one, and is probably due to survey
accuracy. The last few years, of GPS surveys, appears to be more consistent. Locations
mentioned following refer to Map 1 of the application.
A history of subsidence of Station 14 is at Attachment 1. This station is reported as within the
angle of draw of entries work in 1996, and is located on the boundary of workings. The station
dropped in elevation about'/< foot some five years or more after near mining. Information
suggests there has been no subsidence for the last three years.
A history of subsidence of Station 15 is at Attachment 2. The application states that it was
affected by entries work in 1996 and is located on the boundary of workings. It appears to have
subsided about 3/4 foot between 2000 and 2002. Information suggests there has been no
subsidence for the last four yeazs.
A history of subsidence of Station 16 is at Attachment 3. The rise up to 1995 may be due to
survey technique. The application states that it is within the angle of draw of entries work in
1996. It is located at the boundazy of workings. Information suggests there has been no
subsidence for the last ten years.
A history of subsidence of Station 6 is at Attachment 4. The application states that it is within the
angle of draw of entries work in 1996. It is located at the boundary of workings. There was no
noticeable subsidence at that time. The station appears to have subsided about 1.5 foot between
2000 and 2001. Information suggests there has been no subsidence for the last four years. There
has been no significant subsidence for the last three years.
A history of subsidence of Station 81 is at Attachment 5. The application states that it directly
above pillaz extraction in 1996. It is located well within the area indicated as mined in 1996,
contiguous with an area mined in 1995. A drop of 0.4 foot is indicated, well below what might
have been anticipated. Information suggests there has been no subsidence for the last four years.
A history of subsidence of Station 82 is at Attachment 6. The application states that it is within
the angle of draw of entry work in 1995. It is located at the boundary of workings. A drop of 0.6
