Long <br />, Division DRMIO! <br />Re: Seneca II-W Mine (Permit No. C-82-057), Permit Renewal No. 02 <br />Deaz Mr. Green: <br />Pursuant to Title 34, Article 33, Paragraph 118, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the Division of <br />Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on July 10, 1995, an application for renewal of a <br />valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining operations, Permit No. C-82-057, by Seneca Coal <br />Company, P.O. Drawer D, Hayden, Colorado 81639, was deemed complete for the purposes of <br />filing. All reviews and comment periods as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated <br />thereunder initiate from this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to continue conducting surface coal mining operations at the Seneca II-W <br />Mine, which is located approximately seven miles south of Hayden, Colorado, and is described as <br />follows: <br />Township 5 North, Ranee 88 West of the 6th Principal Meridian <br />Section 9: Portions of E%: E%x and W'/z NE'/. <br />Section 10: S'/: S%: NW'/., SW'/., SE'/,, Portions of S'/: NE'/. <br />Section 11: Portions of S'/~ S%: SW'/, <br />Section 14: Portions of SW'/., NW'/, and S%: S'h SE'/, <br />Section 15: All <br />Section 16: Portions of W%: NW%,, SE'/, NW'/,, NE%, SW'/. and SE% <br />Section 21: Portions of E% NE'/< <br />Section 22: NW'h, NE'/,, N%z SE'/,, Portions of N%2 SW'/< and S%x SE%< <br />Section 23: NW'/,, SW'/<, W'/z E'h, W%: E'/: E'/: <br />These tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map of Mount Harris. <br />In order for us to approve this renewal application, we are required to confirm that projections and <br />assumptions in the permit remain valid and that the operation is in compliance with the approved <br />permit. We are requesting your agency's evaluation of the renewal application with respect to the <br />continued validity of the original finding that "the proposed operations will not adversely affect any <br />publicly owned park or place listed on or those places eligible for listing, as determined by SHPO, <br />
