This included reviewing the
currently approved design as set forth in Exhibit 51, Volume 10, of
the permit file, as well as a brief discussion of the revision with
Jim Pendleton.
As you indicated, the revised design will result in a smaller pile
than was originally planned. The revised Phase V pile will only
contain 240 thousand cubic yards, as opposed to the originally
anticipated 582.6 thousand cubic yards. The stability analysis
shows that the revised configuration will meet required factors of
safety.
Jim suggested that since the
a back slope which creates a
above the refuse pile, and s
upslope ditches and drains,
positive drainage along the a
of the pile. Failure to
moisture infiltrating into
affecting stability.
revised top of the pile now includes
much larger topographic slot or Swale
zeds additional surface runoff to the
it will be imperative to maintain
ccess road in this area above the head
3o so could increase the amount of
the head of the pile, adversely
The revised design of the Lower
structure, as long as surface a
are adequately constructed and
BKS/ern
Refuse Pile provides for a stable
nd sub-surface drainage provisions
maintained.
M:\imp\bks\wstlktr6.wp
