<br />ADDITIONS TO THE APPROVED <br />GROUND WATER MONITORING NETWORK <br />SAN LUIS GOLD PROJECT, COSTILLA COUNTY, COLORADO <br /> <br />' INTRODUCTION <br />' On September 9, 1993, the Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) approved Technical <br />Revision No. 08 (TR-08) to Hattie Mountair+ Resources, Inc, (BMRI), San Luis Project, permit <br />' number M-88-112. BMRI contacted E-SPEC Consulting Company to assist in coritpleting TR-08 <br />conditions number 2 and 4, which required the installation of two new monitoring wells. The <br />' existing ground water monitoring network in the vicinity of the tailings falcility includes <br />monitoring wells M-2, M-6, M-7, M-8, M-9, M-12, and M-13, installed at varying depths, and <br />shallow and deep [ysimeter clusters L-1, L-2, and L-3 (Figure 1). <br />' Specifically, TR-08 conditions 2 and 4 required that: <br />' 2) "BMRI will, within 60 days of the approval of TR-08, install an additional ground <br />water monitoring well (M-14) at a location acceptable to the Division between the <br />' collection pond and the tce of the tailings dam. This well will be drilled, logged, <br />and completed in a manner acceptable to the Division, and corgparable to that <br />' employed for Wells M-9 and M-12. Evidence demonstrating the installation will <br />be provided to the Division within 30 days of the completion of the well. This <br />well will be maintained and employed for ground water monitoring of the Santa <br />Fe Aquifer as approved in the permit for Wells M-9, M-12, and M-13." <br />' and <br />t 4) "BMRI will, within GO days of the approval of TR-08, install a replacement well <br />for M-13 (M-13R) at a location acceptable to the Division. The replacement well <br />will be drilled, logged, and completed in a manner acceptable to the Division and <br />comparable to that employed for wells M-9 and M-12.
