Cond.{~iS/cm1 -~
M-13R 48.0 570 7.5
M-14 49.2 680 7.2
' Water samples were also collected from wells M-14 and M-13R for select analyges, on October
28 and 29, 1993 respectively, and included in BMRI's quarterly sampling of ground water
monitoring points as established in permit no. M-88-112 and revisions.
' HYDROGEOLOGIC ASSESSMENT
' Water levels in the monitoring well network in the vicinity of the tailings facility were measured
on October 29, 1993 and are presented in Table 3. The static water level of the uppermost
' water-bearing strata of the Santa Fe Formation at this locale is generally 130 to 180 feet below
ground level. A structural contour map of the potentiometric surface was generated through
triangulation of the water level data and is presented is Figure 4. As shown in Figure 4, the
potentiometric surface mimics the natural topographic surface. Ground water flows from the
' elevated flanks toward the central portion of the valley, with the resultant flow from east to west
down the valley. Based on this data, the local groundwater gradient, in the cetrtral portion of
' the valley below the tailings disposal facility, is appror.irnately 0.04.

' -7-
