~, iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
~~~°~~ STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Gove
DEPARTMENT OFNATURALRESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
DAVID C. SFIELTON, Director
DATE: May 14, 1987
T0: Mr. Randy Neil
FROM: Karen A. Hellner, Reclamation Specialist
RE: File No. M-80-143 - Adequacy Items
The following items must be addressed by the applicant in order to satisfy the
applicable requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-101 et seq. and the Mineral Rules and
Regulations of the Mined Land Reclamation Board
Exhibit C - Mining Plan
1) Pllaase stake the permit boundaries in the site.
2) A1'I topsoil stockpiles stored no longer than one growing season should be
graded to slopes no steeper than 3H:1V and seeded with a perennial cover.
3) The Division interprets your mining plan to state, that the pit slopes
wi'Il now be mined at a 3H:1V slope.
4) Wi'Il a crusher be used on the site.? If so, where will it be located? Due
to past problems, the Division strongly recommends that material not be
crushed on the site.
5) Plcaase commit to maintaining a 20 foot undisturbed setback from the county
roads.
6) Thc! Division questions whether you can mine to achieve 3H:1V slopes in
moist of the pit without backfilling; please provide detailed
cross-sections showing that you can mine to 3H:1V slopes. The Division
a1>o questions whether you can backfill portions of the pit and still be
within your permit boundaries, please discuss.
Exhibit D - Reclamation Plan
1) What areas of the pit will need to be backfilled and when will this
occur? Future mining will not result in the need to do additional
backfilling of the pit walls.
2) Topsoiling and seeding will ocur concurrently with mining.
3) In essence, the Division interprets this revision to state that the pit
will now be mined at 3H:1V slopes with concurrent reclamation of mined out
areas. Reclamation will start with the backfilling of a previously mined
area to a 3H:1V slope. The original permit does not change, except for
modifications to Exhibits C, D, and E.
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel. (303) 866-3567
