PUBLIC NOTICE
<br />MINREC, INC., 2768 Compass Drive, STE 101, Grand Junction, CO 81506, has submitted
<br />a complete application for a technical revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for
<br />its North Thompson Creek Mines, mining permit no. C-81-025. The proposed revision will
<br />eliminate the requirement to monitor ground water monitoring wells D-1 A and D-2A since
<br />they are located in an area approved for phase III bond release. These ground water
<br />monitoring wells were located near the toe of the reclaimed refuse pile.
<br />The mine permit area is located in Pitkin County in lands located in Sections 21, 22, 27,
<br />28, 33, 34, 35, T. 8 S., R. 89 W., 6th P.M. and Sections 2, 3, 4, T. 9 S., R. 89 W., 6th P.M.
<br />The mine permit area encompasses 3300 acres. The surface of the mine permit area is
<br />owned by the North Thompson-Four Mile Mineral and Land Corporation (portions of
<br />sections 22, 27,_34, 35 T8S), the_Crystal River Ranch Company (portions sections 2, 3
<br />T9S, and sections 34, 35 T6S, the Bureau of Land Management (portions of section 35
<br />T8S, and the U. S. Forest Service (portions of sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 T8S, and
<br />sections 2, 3, 4 T9S).
<br />The loadout permit area is located in Garfield County, south of the Roaring Fork River, in
<br />lands located in Lots 4, 5, 6, and 7, Section 29, T. 7 S., R. 88 W., 6th P.M. The mine-
<br />loadout haul road traverses Sections 29, 30, and 32, T. 7 S., R. 88 W., and Section 5 T.
<br />8 S., R. 88 W., 6th P.M. The loadout permit area encompasses 36 acres owned by the
<br />Crystal River Ranch Company.
<br />The mine permit area is located approximately 9.5 miles from the bridge across the Crystal
<br />River up County Road 108, (North Thompson Creek Road). The loadout permit area is
<br />located along County Road 109 approximately 2 miles north of the intersection of County
<br />Roads 108 and 109.
<br />The mine and loadout permit areas can be located on the U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute Stony Ridge
<br />and Carbondale, CO quadrangle maps respectively. The total permit area is 3336 acres
<br />of which 1516 acres is on Federal land.
<br />A copy of the proposed technical revision is available for public inspection at the Garfield
<br />County Clerk and Recorder's Office, Garfield County Courthouse, Glenwood Springs, CO
<br />and at the offices of the Division. W ritten comments or objections to the proposed revision
