~~ The fence vas constructed so that 30" of fencing vas above ground and
6" vas below ground level. By burying 6" of chicken wire~iL vas hoped
that small herbivores could be discouraged from burrowing under the
fence to gain access to the young seedlings. No sign of rabbits vas
sees inside the fence when the plots were ezamined in Late December 1977. A
stile was installed in late December to provide access to the study area.

The uric mixture represents a modification of the miatnre suggested is
ARCO's Bequest for Proposal. The mixture which vas finally seeded represents
