<br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve with conditions Permit Renewal <br />Application No. 1 (RN-1), submitted by Lorencito Coal Company, LLC for a coal mining permit at the <br />Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-1996-084). The proposed renewal will allow for continued <br />reclamation operations at the site. <br />The Lorencito Canyon Mine is located in Las Animas County, approximately 3 miles west of Segundo <br />along Hwy 12 on lands owned by the Hill Ranch. Coal interest at this surface mine is private, and the <br />surface to be affected is private land. The permit azea encompasses approximately 3,142.00 acres. <br />This proposed decision is based on a fording that the proposed operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-I01 et seq., C.R.S., <br />and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br />A copy of the "Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance", including any stipulations, is on file for <br />public inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215 Centennial Building, <br />1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the Las Animas County Clerk's Office, 200 East <br />First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082. Persons with an interest that maybe adversely affected by <br />the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the <br />proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days of the initial publication of this <br />notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the <br />objections to the proposed decision. <br />
