III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
9~
PUBLIC NOTICE
MINREC, INC., 2768 Compass Drive, Suite 101, Grand Junction,
CO 81506, has submitted an application for a technical
revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for its North
Thompson Creek Mines, mining permit No. C-81-025, issued
August 16, 1988. The revision is being requested for
approximately 29 acres known as the Diamond-A Parcel, which is
part of the unit train loadout facility connected with the
North Thompson Creek Mine Site. The proposed revision will
remove the Diamond-A Parcel from the Permit Area. The
Diamond-A Parcel is located in Garfield County in that portion
of the Permit Area located north and east of the center of the
Roaring Fork River in Township 7 South, Range 88 West, 6th
Prime Meridian, Section 20, Lots 10, 11, 12, 15 and 16, and
Section 29, Lots 2, 3 and 4. This area can be located on the
U.S.G.S. 7.5 minute Carbondale, Colorado quadrangle map.
The mine site and unit train loadout were contoured and
vegetated during 1987. Vegetation studies performed during
1991 and 1992 have demonstrated the vegetation on the
reclaimed mine site and unit train loadout has been
successfully established in accordance with the approved
reclamation plan. All reclamation obligations with respect to
the Diamond-A Parcel were deemed satisfied upon the removal in
June 1992 of two concrete footers located on the east bank of
the Roaring Fork River. In addition, the Division in
July 1992 approved a change in post-mining land use for the
Diamond-A Parcel from "agricultural" to "residential" and
"industrial." MINREC has submitted an application with the
Division for a partial bond release for the Permit Area, which
will be a full and final release of that portion of the total
bond attributable to the Diamond-A Parcel. Following this
release from liability, no further performance standards shall
apply to the Diamond-A Parcel.
Copies of the proposed revision are available for public
inspection at the Garfield County Clerk and Recorder's Office,
Garfield County Courthouse, Glenwood Springs, Colorado and at
the offices of the Division. Written comments or objections
to the proposed revision may be submitted to and additional
information obtained from the Division of Minerals and
Geology, 1313 Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO 80203-2273,
phone (303) 866-3567.
SLGD/AY9
