Permit M77-424 Amendment 1
Exhibit E
detrimental affects to successful reclamation. Monitoring will be conducted
quarterly unfit the lands are relinquished for warranty release. Maintenance will
include any onsite activity to repair or improve revegetation and reclamation
success. Possible maintenance activities include re-seeding of areas of poor plant
productivity, weed control, erosion control modifications, fertilization, and fence
repair.
10. Fence Removal. Depending on site conditions, specifically the potential for
grazing damage, removal of the existing wildlife security fence may not occur
until after revegetation goals are met (percent cover and plant diversity). If it is
decided to leave the fence in place until after successful revegetation, arubber-
tired backhoe or similar equipment will be used to remove the fence materials.
Post-revegetation fence removal will require that work be conducted with as little
disturbance as possible. Should significant disturbance occur during this time,
disturbed surfaces will be revegetated using the seed mix shown in Table I.
Evaporation Pond Road
The evaporation pond access road consists of an area of approximately 20 feet wide by
1,700 feet long, an area of approximately 0.8 acres. The final total disturbed acreage may
be slightly larger considering the cut and fill on the upper portion of the road. However,
approximately 1,450 feet or 0.7 acres of this road was in place prior to pond construction
(based on the U.S.G.S. 71/2 minute Red Pinnacle quadrangle, 1962). It is not known at
this time if this road will remain in place for rancher access or will be reclaimed at the
request of the BLM. For this amendment, the cost of the entire road's reclamation has
been included in Exhibit L.
Reclamation of the road will include removal and disposal of the steel post and cable
guardrail and recontouring of the upper portion of the road. Recontouring will involve
blading or pulling-back the fill towards the cut to blend with hillslope topography. If
sufficient topsoil of notable quality is available from pond reclamation activities, topsoil
will be placed on the final grade, otherwise it is assumed that the regraded and
recontoured material will be sufficient for seeding. The final grade and all portions of the
road will be scarified and revegetated consistent with specifications in item 8 above.
