Permit M77-424 Amendment I
DRAFT
EXHIBIT E
RECLAMATION PLAN
Exhibit E
Reclamation activities to be implemented for the disturbed lands associated with the
water transmission pipeline and evaporation pond (Area 23 in Exhibit F) presented in this
amendment will include 1) abandonment of the water transmission pipeline and
associated structures, 2) removal, disposal, or burial of pond precipitate, liner, piping,
concrete and steel vault structures, and fencing associated with the evaporation pond, and
3) grading, recontouring, and revegetation of all disturbed lands associated with the
pipeline and pond.
The water transmission pipeline and evaporation pond (including the access road) have
been designated "Area 23", consistent with the numbered designations of reclamation
areas in the original the mine permit. The total estimated disturbed acreage in Area 23 is
as follows:

Area 23
sub area
Estimated Disturbed
Acrea a Acreage Requiring
Reclamation
Au ust 2006
Water Transmission
Pi eline 23.4 0*
Evaporation Pond 10 10
Evaporation Pond Road 0,8 0.8
Total Acreage to Reclaim 34.2 10.8
* Disturbance that may occur during reclamation of several manhole vaults is expected to
be minor (less than 0.1 acres), but will be reclaimed consistent with procedures in this
exhibit.
Water Transmission Pipeline
The water transmission pipeline was constructed in 1984. The pipeline conveys
groundwater exposed to underground retorted oil shale within Logan Wash Mine to the
evaporation pond. On the surface, the buried pipeline extends from the sealed L-1 portal
into the flow control vault on the Lower Bench and down Dry Gulch to Logan Wash,
terminating at the evaporation pond, a distance of approximately 27,365 feet from the
portal. However, the portion of the pipeline from the L-1 portal to the former Heater
Treater area (Area 15, Exhibit E in mine permit) was originally permitted as a water
pipeline that was associated with oil recovery from the retorts. The pipeline was later
converted to the retort water pipeline. Therefore, the portion of the water transmission
pipeline that technically applies to this permit amendment extends from the former
