Long <br /> Division Dire<IOr <br />Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-96-083) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 8 (TR-8) <br />Add West Pod [o Mine Plan and Up Date Min e Plan Map and Subsidence In(orma[ion <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph <br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on Febmary 18, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie <br />No. 2 Mine was consideredcomplete for the ptuposesof filing. The revision was submittedby Bowie Resources Limited. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Approval of this technical revision would allow mining in the west section of the already approved permit area. Mining would <br />remain conventionalroom and pillarand there wouldnot be any increase in the production rate. No Federal coal is involved. <br />In addition, the mine plan map is being updated with this technical revision to show the current extent of mining and the <br />proposed addition to the mine plan. Finally, the subsidencesection ofthe permitapplication is being updated to include mining <br />through the fault that will need to occur m order to access the proposed west mine section. <br />The undergroundcoal mining operation is on land located approximately i miles northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, I I, 14, I5, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 Wes[ of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the technicalrevision application is available for public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer, <br />Delta, CO 81416, and a[ [he Divisionoffice. In order for us to <br />comply with regulatory time Crames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter.
