E3
the south will be installed as some future date. An outlet structure to deliver regulated water
from the storage facility will also be needed. Because the water storage facility is located
within the existing South Platte River flood plain there is a possibility that spillways or
hardened (rip rap) areas will be need to prevent flood flows from eroding embankments
adjacent to the river.
Top Soil
Top soil that was removed has been stockpiled on the site. The slurry wall contractor is
required to use all available top soil in the restoration of the slurry wall working platform. In
addition to this platform all currently disturbed areas will be treated with top soil, seeded and
stabilize to prevent erosion.
Seeding
The seed mix that was submitted with the original application is different from what is
recommended by Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. The District has regulatory
control of areas adjacent to the river and in the flood plain. Denver Water and South Adams
County Water and Sanitation District have decided that the best management practice for
controlling plant species that are compatible is to utilize the District's recommended seed
mix. The proposed seed mix and the seeding and restoration specification for the slurry wall
project are enclosed.
Weed Control and Mowing
Denver Water complies with applicable local or county requirements with regard to weed
control and height of grasses. This area has considerable wildlife activity, especially
waterfowl. Denver Water and South Adams County Water and Sanitation District will utilize
best management practices to avoid adverse impacts to the wild life at the same time control
all noxious weeds. We will utilize State of Colorado guidelines for managing this area with
respect to controlling noxious weeds.
