J. Waldron
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Somerset Mining Company
MR-029 - Reclamation Schedule
Permit C-81-022
Dear Mr. Waldron:
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
sss
CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT
a
p~r,F1VED
SEP 16199
visiur~ ui ~.ui,eieio a ~eologY
Di .
The Division's letter dated September 8, 1994 transmitted its
comments and questions regarding the referenced minor revision
application. Following are Somerset's responses to the Division's
concerns:
1. Pages 2.05-29, 30, 32, and 33 were revised to clarify the
reclamation activities to be completed this year. Removal of
the culvert in Bear Creek that provided access to the former
escapeway was scheduled in 1995. This was done so no
backfilling or grading is performed this year because of the
threat of enforcement action by OSM.
2. The reclamation dates presented on pages 2.05-35, 36 & 37 were
revised to the previously approved dates.
3. The discussion of the postmining land use, presented on page
2.05-39, was revised to incorporate an undeveloped/public use
land use for the lower Hubbard Creek, Bear Canyon ventilation
facilities and the Bear Canyon B-Seam degas disturbances.
4. Revised page 2.05-17 and new pages 2.05-17i - 17iv present a
surface blasting plan. It is important that Somerset obtain
approval of the surface blasting plan in a timely manner so it
can proceed with the concrete demolition during October.
5. The enclosed Post Mining Land Use Map was revised to show the
undeveloped/public use areas.
