Dear Mr. Ehmann:
Please find enclosed a copy of the technical revision application submitted by American Soda, L.L.P. on
August 2, 2000. The technical revision is intended to incorporate ambient ground water data from within
and around the Yankee Gulch Project site into the reclamation permit and to establish permit conditions
protective of ground water. The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) will accept written comments on
the technical revision in accordance with Rules 1.7.1 and 1.7.2 of the Hard Rock/Metal Mining Rules and
Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board (Board). The inclusion of Rule 1.7.2 in the
public comment procedures for this technical revision is the result of a Board Order issued at the time the
reclamation permit application was approved on June 23, 1999. Based on American Soda's intended
newspaper publication date of August 3, 2000 (see enclosure and Rule 1.6.2(d)), public comments must be
received by the DMG no later than 4:00 p.m. on August 14, 2000 to be considered in the application review
process (Rule 1.7.2(2)).
In accordance Stipulation No. 1 [o Yankee Gulch Project Reclamation Permit No. M-1999-002, [he
technical revision application will be considered by the Board in a Formal Public Hearing to be convened on
August 24, 2000. The hearing will begin at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter as possible considering the
Board's agenda. The hearing will be held in Room 318 of the Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street,
Denver, Colorado.
