There are some dog hole prospects on Bulldog Mountain notth and west of the Bulldog Mine
bench. None of these appears to be significant, and would be very unlikely to be sources for
contamination of the eround water at the ~vel] location.
The 9360 adit inclines at 1 percent to the location of [he no. 1 winze. As such, at a location
approximately X00 feet north of the monitoring well, adit related dis[urbance might be
upgradient of the well screen. However, the adit was driven for access; the mining occurred in
the lower levels of the Bulldog Mine. Also, flow through the rhyolite is less likely to occur
than flow along the contact. This is strongly indicated in the original driving reports for the
adit, which indicate the most significant inflows occurred at the contact.
The 9700 adit is upgradient of the well screen. This was an access adit in which no sloping
occurred. It is driven into the relatively impermeable rhyolite throughout its length, and has
always been dry. It is interesting to note, however, that the 9700 dump is located in Windy Gl.
directly over the surface trace of the Creede Fm./rhyoliyte contact, which may be a ground
water rechazge location.
Homestake is anxious to proceed with closing the adit plug valve. I would like to get back to them this
week with our findings. Thanks for your assistance.
attachment(s)
cc: Steve Shuey
c:\wi ndows\persona]\bu Ildog
