Lung <br />D~~~,~on Director <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: Lorencito Canyon Mine (Permit No. C-96-084) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 4 <br />New Ownership and Control Information <br />Dear Mr. Simpson: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Anicle 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 28, 1998, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Lorencito Canyon Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Lorencito Coal Company, LLC. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This techncial revision revises the ownership and control information. <br />The combined surface and underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles west of <br />Segundo on Hwy 12. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />On lands south of the Purgatoire River, lands east of the South Fork of the Purgatoire and Alamosa Canyon, lands <br />north of Vermejo Park, and lands west of Widow Woman Canyon containing approximately 17,862 acres. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Tercio. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, <br />200 East First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional information or <br />to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, <br />Denver, Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567.
