BANTA, Director
September 20, 1988
Mr. Craig Springer
Bear Coal Company
P.O. Box 518
Somerset, Colorado 81434
RE: Minor Revision No. 2, Bear Mine, C-81-033
Dear Mr. Springer:
We have received your minor revision application to revise your permit to
establish a temporary gob pile. Our initial review indicates that all items
required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, C.R.S.34-33-101
et seq., have been submitted. Furthermore, the Division approves the minor
revision as submitted.
This revision allows Bear Coal Company two waivers: one, to permit the
temporary hauling of underground development waste down the portal access
road, and two, to establish a temporary gob storage area, not to exceed 100'
in diameter, within the controlled area west of the stacking tube, The
temporary stockpile can exist in the stacking tube/coal storage area until
March 31, 1989.
This will require Bear to prepare a technical revision for a permanent
underground development waste stockpile by December 30, 1988. This will
ensure adequate review and approval of the revision by March 1, 1989, to allow
you one month to transfer material from the temporary stockpile to the
permanent stockpile.
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
