€c~ OFFICE of ARCHAEOLOGY and HISTORIC PRESERVATION
RECEIVED
October 12, 2007 ~~~ 1 ~ 2~~]
Division of Reclamation,
Kate A. Pickford I.JI Mining and Safety
Environmental Protection Specialist '1 ~
Division of Reclamation, Mining, & Safety
Department of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203 ,~
Re: Elam Construction AGRI-DLD Gravel Pit (Pemdt No. M-2000-030) (CHS # 32935)
Dear Ms. Pickford:
~~~~
Thank you fox your correspondence dated October 4, 2006 (received by out office on October 10)
concerning the project listed above.
A search of our files indicates that a small portion of the proposed permit expansion area has been
surveyed fox cultural resources and that no significant cultural resources have been recorded in that
area. However, our files contain incomplete information for this area, as most of Colorado has not yet
been inventoried for cultural resources. As a result, there is the possibility that as yet unidentified
cultural resources exist within that portion of the proposed permit area which has not been surveyed.
Should human remains be discovered during mining activities, the requirements under State law CRS
24-80 part 13 apply and must be followed.
Please note that our review of your project is expedited when you indicate the extent of the proposed
permit area on a legible portion of the appropriate and clearly identified 7.5 minute USGS
topographic map.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment If we may be of further assistance, please contact Gxeg
Wolff, Compliance Coordinator, at (303) 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~.~ /~i C'~..
Georgianna Contiguglia
State Historic Preservation Officer
GC/GAW
1300 BROADWAY DeNVeR COLORADO 80203 TrL 303/866-3395 Fax 303/866-2711 wwwcoloradohistory-oahp.org
